Membership

Existing Customers:

Parties who were customers IN GOOD STANDING of the existing Water Company at the time the water system ownership was transferred to BRR Water SC AND signed both required service applications will become members without being required to pay a membership fee.

Please note:
Existing Customers who were not required to pay a membership fee will be required to re-join as New Customer and pay the membership fee if their membership and water service is subsequently terminated for delinquent accounts or other causes.

New Customers:

(Parties who become customers after the system ownership was transfer to BRR Water SC, or Existing Customers who have had services terminated for other causes.)

New Customers must apply for membership by entering into agreements for service by signing the two service applications and paying the one-time $500 membership fee, per water connection. This fee is refundable when a member permanently terminates their water service, to the extent it exceed any arrears in their account.

New customers who require a NEW SERVICE tap will additionally be required to pay a one time tap fee. Often builders will do this on their behalf. See New Service for more information.

BRR Water SC SUPPLEMENTAL CONTRACT /APPLICATION FOR UTILITY SERVICES

Rental Properties:

Tenants cannot become members of BRR Water SC. Owners of rental property must pay membership fees of BRR Water SC and enter into all service agreements. Applications for service by tenants must be countersigned by the owner of the property. By signing these agreements the landlord; GUARANTEES PAYMENT of all service charges and fees incurred by, or compensable damages caused by, their tenant.

Membership Transfer:

Memberships are non-transferable. A terminating customer’s membership fee (if any was charged) will be returned upon full payment of their final bill, and their membership will be terminated. A new customer will be required to apply for membership and enter into new service agreements in their own name. Example: If a party sells their home, their membership is terminated. The purchaser must become a New Customer. (See New Customers above).
